Trin Guhyani Being Oneness
Mar /25/ 2023–Mar/ 26/ 2023
Hello everyone, welcome to our Dharma talk at Dharma Rain Meditation Center.
Buddhist often say: “Trin guhyani are the oneness”, but what exactly Trin guhyani are?
According to the Mahā ratna kūṭa sūtra, Bodhisattva jiyi asked Guhyapada: “how many secret Dharma does Buddha have?” Guhyapada answered:” listen without your idiot thoughts, think about it after you hear it, I am going to tell you Buddha’s secret Dharma now, it has three kinds of secret, one is kaya -guhya , two is vag -guhya , three is mano -guhya.”
After that, Guhyapada talked about the meaning of three different secret Dharma: kaya -guhya means Buddha can show different stature and length of his body or even change by supernatural power in the same Dharma gathering, all of them are unthinkable, and all beings are happy and yearning to meet Buddha by their heart. The vag -guhya is the Buddha sound can be heard from one kilometre, or ten kilometres, or even hundreds of millions of miles away when he is teaching beings Dharma. It is unthinkable that people hear different content in the same meeting, someone learns how to offer, someone hears how to keep precepts, etc. what their hear is decided by their own heart. Mano -guhya means Buddha’s heart is pure originally without karma and free from preoccupations through all Dharma. He is possessing nothing and never left samadi of Buddhas. What does he do are just for taming certain beings.
Are you still confused? Kaya -guhya , vag -guhya , mano -guhya of Buddha are so secretive, what can we learn from those? While our body, our speech and mind are the sources of the karma. Even the repentance text says: “The evil karmas I have done with my body, voice, and mind are caused by greed, anger, and delusion, which are without a beginning. Before Buddhas, I now supplicate for my repentance. From this perspective, our body, mind and speech correspond to the Trin guhyani of Buddha, which, can achieve the incredible function. Not only body, all beings’ mind and speech correspond to the Trin guhyani of Buddha; they are a part of Trin guhyani of Buddha, The hidden nature of the hearts of all beings is similar to that of Buddha. That is to say, the reality of all threefold karma of living beings is actually from the effect of Six Dramata’s, equal Buddha’s Trin guhyani. In the Trin guhyani from beings, Kaya -guhya means beings learn Buddha’s handprint, learn Buddha’s behaviour like how to sit, how to sleep, how to walk, etc., Vag -guhya means beings speak the truth of Buddha or another language; Mano -guhya means beings seeing Buddha by their heart and having mind from different issues. The three karma of sentient beings corresponds to the Buddha’s Trin guhyani, which are known as the Trin guhyani using in great way. At this point, it is confirmed what Buddha Sakyamuni said when he attained the enlightenment: “All sentient beings have the wisdom and virtue of Tathagata”. The self-nature of sentient beings is equivalent to the nature of Buddha. It is derived from oneness and no difference.
Of course, we can read Trin guhyani from different angles. From the form and formless, we can divide it into form Trin guhyani and alakasana Trin guhyani. The former refers to the integration of Buddha and sentient beings into the realm of yoga. ( ka^ya -guhya ), beings chanting the mantra (va^g -guhya ), seeing Buddha in their mind (mano -guhya). While all behaviours and gestures are secret prints (ka^ya -guhya); all the mantra or the truth when beings are speaking (va^g -guhya); watching every single thought from their mind wonderfully (mano -guhya), we call it alakasana Trin guhyani. Buddha’s Trin guhyani are always blessed beings Trin guhyani, which, is called Trin guhyani blessing; Trin guhyani of Buddha are corresponded to beings Trin guhyani, which, is called Trin guhyani corresponding; Besides, if the practitioner could attain the integration with Buddha, the practitioner would attain enlightenment immediately.
Trin guhyani means three different aspects that have different functions, then why we have to attain Trin guhyani when we are cultivating Buddha’s Dharma?
From the perspective of alakasana Trin guhyani and Buddha’s Trin guhyani, Trin guhyani was originally oneness. All behaviors and gestures are secret prints, could show stature and length of his body or even change by supernatural power in the same Dharma gathering, all of them are unthinkable and all beings are happy and yearning to meet Buddha by their heart.(ka^ya -guhya); all the mantra or the truth when beings are speaking, Buddha sound can be heard from one kilometre, or ten kilometres, or even hundreds of millions of miles away when he is teaching beings Dharma. It is unthinkable that people hear different content in the same meeting, someone learns how to offer, someone hears how to keep precepts, etc. what their hear is decide by their own heart. (va^g -guhya); watching every single thought from their mind wonderfully, Buddha’s heart is pure originally without karma and also free from preoccupations through all Dharma, he is possessing nothing and never left Samadi of Buddhas, what does he do are just for taming certain beings(mano -guhya).
From the perspective of form Trin guhyani, we had a metaphor before, saying that our cultivation is like we go to somewhere, a destiny. For example, we want to go to Quebec from Toronto, without secret Dharma, we have to walk, which may take about ten days. If we can work with secret Dharma, then we have a car that can send us to Quebec in a few hours. Today we are going to use this simple metaphor to explain Trin guhyani. Let me ask you, how do you drive? Using hands, feet, eyes, and brain, all of them are integrated into the car. The eyes see the traffic conditions on the road, and the brain makes judgments on how to drive. The hands and feet are under the command of the brain to operate the vehicle. In this process of marching, ka^ya -guhya is like the vehicle responsible for the specific behavior that is moving forward, the mano -guhya is like the brain, making judgments, giving instructions, and va^g -guhya is like the eyes and hands of people, responsible for the vehicle and the brain to communicate to cooperate, let The vehicle is running normally. Without hands and feet, the brain wouldn’t start the engine. Without the brain’s instructions, the hands and feet wouldn’t naturally change lanes; without a car, we would only walk. Trin guhyani are also in such relations; they rely on each other and are indispensable. The three partners cooperate and could only work by each other, so we call it Trin guhyani are oneness. When you attained the Trin guhyani being oneness, it just you are driving a car on the road, the body’, the brain and car are just like one, so that you can drive faster and safety on the road of spiritual cultivation.
Since we understood the necessity of Trin guhyani being oneness, how can we attain that?
First of all, we have to be confident; we have to believe the blessings of Buddha’s Trin guhyani are always with us and never left us. Why? Because our self-nature and Buddha’s nature are the same one, there is no difference between them. Although the Trin guhyani of all living beings originated from delusions, they took three poisons as the body, different from the Buddha’s Trin guhyani. However if we can see it in Buddha’s eyes, you will find that Buddha’s nature and sentient beings’ are equal, Buddha’s Trin guhyani is the same as all beings’. Naturally, Buddha is corresponding to us and blessing us in every single moment.
According to the Bodhicitta Stura: “The practitioner who is practising yoga observing have to practice Trin guhyani to enlightenment the five different forms being your behaviors and intentions. First, ka^ya -guhya, such like use your handprint to call and pray for the blessing of holy beings, second, va^g -guhya, such as chanting mantras exactly without any wrong; third, mano -guhya, such like yoga corresponding white full moon, see Bodhicitta.” This is precisely saying how to keep Trin guhyani in the practice process made our body, mind, and speech one to get the greatest wonderful function.
At the end of this Dharma talk, I want to say that the existence of our lives is a self-cultivation. It from the time we were born and cry to we become mature, it is from every illness in our lives to our death, it is from our sadness at old time to the joyful moment now, it is from gathering to separation, every single moment of our life is cultivation, not only just when we sit down and cross-legged or chatting the Buddhist scriptures. Therefore, Trin guhyani are there all the time, from this moment, we are grateful for the meeting today. When you come home, you give a hug to your kid, you can even find it when you can say “Hi” to a stranger with a smile. Every single word, every single thought would be like Trin guhyani as Buddha, solemn and perfect. As for how to do it, we are so lucky that there is a Buddha was born on the earth and taught us Dharma for forty-nine. Even now, you can find his story in books. When you don’t know how the practice Trin guhyani and correspond to the Buddha, please take the Buddha’s biography, or you can think about: what will Buddha do at this moment? You will naturally find the answer for the Trin guhyani being one.
thank you for the listening!
