Buddha’s Delight is a traditional Chinese vegetarian dish often served during festivals, Buddhist celebrations, and family gatherings. It combines a variety of vegetables, mushrooms, tofu products, and other plant-based ingredients into one colorful and nourishing meal. Ingredients such as shiitake mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, bean curd sticks, tofu, cabbage, and bamboo shoots create a balanced dish with rich texture and natural flavor. Although the ingredient list is diverse, the taste remains light, clean, and harmonious.
This dish is rich in plant-based protein, dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals, making it both nutritious and satisfying. Mushrooms provide deep umami flavor, tofu products contribute protein, and fresh vegetables add sweetness and freshness. Ingredients:
· Shiitake mushrooms 6
· Wood ear mushrooms 50 g
· Bean curd sticks 100 g
· Carrot 50 g (sliced)
· Snow peas 80 g
· Napa cabbage 150 g
· Bamboo shoots 50 g
· Firm tofu 200 g
· Light soy sauce 1 tbsp.
· Salt to taste
· White pepper a pinch
· Sesame oil 1 tsp
· Vegetable oil 1–2 tbsp.|
· Water 200 ml
Instructions:
Prepare ingredients
Soak mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, and bean curd sticks. Slice vegetables and tofu.
Pan-fry tofu
Lightly pan-fry tofu until golden on both sides, then set aside.
Blanch vegetables
Briefly blanch snow peas and cabbage to maintain color and texture.
Stir-fry mushrooms
Heat oil and stir-fry mushrooms until fragrant.
Add remaining ingredients
Add bean curd sticks, carrots, bamboo shoots, and cabbage. Stir evenly.
Season and simmer
Add soy sauce, salt, white pepper, and water. Simmer gently for about 5 minutes.
Add tofu and snow peas
Carefully mix in tofu and snow peas to avoid breaking the tofu.
Finish and serve
Drizzle sesame oil before serving.
